Hookah Lounges in Columbia
Hookah lounges in Columbia
Columbia keeps its hookah at two ends of the city. Hookah House has held Rosewood Drive for years, a short drive from Five Points and the University of South Carolina, while Over The Top Hookah Lounge covers the northeast off Parklane Road with a higher-end room. Between them they are most of the Midlands scene. Sessions run $30 to $50 at Over The Top, and door ages vary by venue, so bring ID. Browse Columbia neighbourhoods below.

The Columbia hookah scene - What to know before you go
Columbia's hookah is split between an old anchor and a newer northeast room. Hookah House sits on Rosewood Drive south of the city centre, close enough to Five Points and the University of South Carolina to draw a student crowd, and it doubles as a retail counter, so bowls, coals and foil are available alongside the session. It is the option most locals name first.
Hookah culture in Columbia: Flavours, etiquette and what to order
Columbia's two rooms pull different crowds and reward different plans. Hookah House works for an early, casual session and a resupply run in the same stop, with mint, double apple and grape leading the menu. Over The Top is the one to book for a group night out, and its later opening suits a post-dinner start. A session runs 45 to 60 minutes at either, coal service is included, and tipping the attendant is customary. With the two venues on opposite sides of the city, pick by neighbourhood first rather than planning to move between them.
