We went out of our way to visit the shop on our drive from North Dakota to Georgia. Well worth it. All the regulars were present smoking on the patio. I met Joe the owner, who is awesome! He explained everything and was so welcoming. He entertained my teens and medical service dog. We got the red carpet treatment. My kids were impressed, they never been a pipe shop. We wish our town had an Ash & Ember.

This place is a treasure! The owner was super interesting and very friendly. They had a nice selection of pipes and pipe tobacco. I can't wait to try the two custom blends I picked up.
This is a "A Gentleman's Shop" in that it is run by outstanding gentlemen who did not bat an eye when a lady wanted to pick up the great hobby/religion of pipe smoking. They've given great advice and knowledgeable service every time I've darkened the door. Not only that, but they still remembered me even though I'm not around as often as I would like to be. I can't recommend this shop enough.
Finally got around to writing this review. Recently I had the thought of trying out pipe smoking. After doing some extensive research on how best to get started I came across ash and ember. Let me just say I am so glad that i decided to make the 40 minute drive. The shop atmosphere is very homey, and the owner Joe was awesome and insightful on helping pick out my first pipe. He even offered me a very nice starting kit and a great choice of tobacco. Not only is it a rad pipe store, they also sell vintage toys and other cool stuff. I’ll definitely be making the trip back soon.
Went in for my birthday and met Joe, had a very pleasant time listening to him explain all the pipe tobaccos (there are dozens here) and the shop's hand-made pipes. They also have an outstanding collection of pipes for sale and a great outdoor area for smoking.
