The Living Room in La Jolla is a really nice place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. The location is excellent, with a cozy and stylish interior that truly gives you the feeling of sitting in a comfortable living room. It’s a great spot to meet friends, enjoy a coffee, have a light meal, or simply spend some time unwinding. The food and drinks are good, with a nice variety to choose from, and the service was friendly and welcoming. I especially enjoyed the relaxed vibe and the unique character of the place—it feels different from a typical café or restaurant. Overall, a very pleasant experience in the heart of La Jolla. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in the area and looking for a comfortable place with good food, drinks, and a great atmosphere.

It’s best to avoid the Living Room Coffeehouse La Jolla. There are significantly better coffee shops nearby that offer far better food, respectful service, clean facilities, and stable internet. Despite its prime location, the entire place suffers from severe neglect and disrespectful staff. Severe cleanliness issues. Bathrooms are the dirtiest in the area with seating area and floors covered in leftover grime, ash, dirty dishes, and food from the night before. It has a very rundown interior. Furniture is visibly worn out, featuring torn chair upholstery, dirty, and aged decor. There’s a strong smoke odor and they pump in fragrance to cover it up. Because the coffeehouse is also a hookah lounge, the main area frequently smells strongly of smoke, destroying any cozy, family-friendly vibe. Staff is hostile and aggressive. On many occasions customers around me were confronted aggressively over minor seating policies. One time, a woman who just set down her laptop and belongings was rudely told she couldn't sit before ordering. When asking if the server could take her order at the table so her belongings weren't left unattended, the staff member replied, "Is that my problem?" Expect a dismissive manager. When the people around me had requested to speak to management regarding staff misconduct, managers routinely defend bad behavior without apology, responding with phrases like, "What do you want me to do about it?" Expect extreme delays and neglect. On many occasions we’ve waiting up to 50 minutes for water and 35 minutes for appetizers. Once we waited over 85 minutes for dinner, only to be told at midnight that the kitchen had closed without delivering their food all while larger tables received food nearly an hour later and the owner was seen partying rather than managing. Billing Discrepancies & Upselling: there have been multiple times where they overcharge or quietly add extra items to the bill. It’s helpful to be aware that the staff aggressively upsells subpar items such as $6 macaroons every time you order. It’s best to avoid the Living Room Coffeehouse La Jolla. 5/5 ⭐️ We finally made it to Living Room La Jolla after hearing about it so many times—and now we completely get the hype. It’s a bit tucked away, and from the outside you wouldn’t expect how massive and inviting the space actually is. We came in around 8:30 a.m. on a Sunday to get some work done, and by 11 a.m. the place was buzzing—in the best way. The energy was amazing 🙌 A perfect mix of students, locals, and everyone in between, all just vibing, working, or catching up. We kept it simple with one hot Americano ☕ and one iced Americano 🧊—both exactly what you’d want, smooth and solid. For food, we ordered the salmon lox spread 🥯 and a breakfast omelet with hash browns, toast, and mixed fruit 🍳🍓. Portions were hefty, and for the price, quality, and how long we comfortably stayed, it felt like great value. What really stood out was the atmosphere and hospitality. We brought our service dog 🐶, and the staff was incredibly kind, respectful, and welcoming. Everyone we interacted with had a positive, friendly attitude, which made the whole experience even better. This is definitely one of those hidden gems you’ll want to keep coming back to 💯 Just a heads up—if you’re planning to hang out for a while, get there early to grab a good spot!+

I enjoyed being in the Living Room Coffeehouse. I didn’t walk in for the food nor for the service. It was the nostalgic atmosphere of times gone by that drew me in. (See photo) It evokes a kinda shabby- chic of the mega-Hollywood era. And, from the laid back coziness of upholstered sofas and chairs you immediately feel a warm welcome. For me, it didn’t matter what I ate or drank. But the grilled salmon on a bed of arugula with citrus dressing was as delicious as it sounds. My husband hardly spoke as he noisily devoured his fragrant and savory gyro-style wrap! Sorry I don’t have pics to share. Just let me say that being present, in the moment, enjoying the ambience, the food, and the company overwhelmed my need for photos or likes. But, I plan to return to the Living Room Coffeehouse. At that time I will try to do the setting and the food justice. ♥️

This looked like a warm and inviting place to have lunch and it turned out to be very relaxing with the music they were playing . Everything was great except every single table was taken by kids on their laptops either doing homework or playing games. We got the last table that was dirty but they came right away and cleaned it. I guess don’t go after 2:00 because it’s catered to coffee drinkers with laptops. I only saw 3 tables with some kind of food. Many people walked in looking for tables to sit down and eat and nothing was available so they left. The Sicilian Muffuletta was very good and tasty, and huge, it definitely shareable.
