I love Godzilla so I was pumped to take my family and go spend an evening at a theme pop up. Upon arrival the outside was packed with standing people and a cool entrance with closed doors to prevent peeking in. I inquired with the bystanders about check in and no one seemed to know. I walked in found a host and asked them checked in. It was 8p for a 830 reservation. I went back out side and joined the other G-Day survivors. While waiting and taking it was revealed that a group had a 7:45p and was still waiting at 815. Not a good sign or omen. We continued to wait and more parties continued to show up and reservations were getting later and later. We were finally called for out 830 reservation at 915p. Finally it was time to join Godzilla. We ventured through into the world of Godzilla…I hoped instead it was a small room with a few tables and a couple Godzilla themed objects. Had Godzilla music and movies playing but that is about it where the world of Godzilla stopped. Trying to have a good time I followed the QR code menu and ordered the literal Buldak instant Ramen and churro and an Godzilla mug with tea. The mug and tea were cute and tasty respectively but the noddles I could have made at home cleaner, tastier and cheaper. The merchandise was cool and the upstairs “exhibit” was more like a kids bedroom but it was something that was there. For the price and wait this experience was terrible. I love Godzilla, but was so disappointed that I spent the whole night hoping Godzilla would actually come through and destroy it to put me out of my misery. Overall this is like looking at something on TEMU and saying wow it’s a cool thing and then ordering it. Wel now you knows it to late and the poorly made knockoff arrives at your door and you feel stupid and duped again, that’s what coming to this feels like.

My friends and I visited Boba Bear in Koreatown yesterday, and overall the experience was a bit underwhelming. The Godzilla theme downstairs was a pretty neat concept, but nothing that really stood out or felt immersive. They didn’t have a lot of merchandise left. What was more disappointing, though, was the lack of communication from the staff. Apparently there’s an upstairs area with games and photo opportunities, but no one in our party was told about it at all. We only found out afterward on TikTok, which made it feel like we missed a big part of the experience. Service was also pretty mid. Apart from our server, the staff didn’t seem very engaged, which didn’t help the overall vibe. It has potential, especially with a fun theme like Godzilla, but between the missed experience upstairs and the lackluster service, it didn’t quite live up to expectations for us ~ Especially since we paid $10/person prior to our visit. 🫩

Came for the Final Fantasy 7 pop up and had a great time!! Service was fantastic, and the drinks were delicious although they don't give you anything to carry the glass souvenir cup out with so one of ours cracked in the car, that's my only real complaint. I also had to pay $10 each person to make a reservation, which some people in the reviews said it goes towards the cost of a drink but they didn't do that for us so maybe come during a weekday or slow hour if you don't want to pay but honestly it was worth it for us so it's okay. Overall it was a nice experience.

My girlfriend surprised me with a Godzilla-themed restaurant event for my birthday, and I was genuinely excited. Unfortunately, that excitement didn’t last. Our reservation was canceled due to overcapacity and the event being oversold, and we ended up waiting nearly an hour and a half—even though it was just the two of us. What made it more frustrating was that we had already paid $20 to hold our reservation, and no one informed us about the issue. When I even asked if I could just buy one of the Godzilla mugs, we were completely ignored. It was really disappointing, especially soo much to support a local business.

NOTE: Final Fantasy VII’s Seventh Heaven Experience event has been extended till Jan. 25th, 2026, so there’s still time to go check it out! Man, what a way to end the year. I wanted to leave a place/location venue that would merit my best review to end the year and it ended up being so! Boba Bear in Koreatown usually hosts month-long events for whichever pop culture phenomenon is big at the moment. This time around, it was Final Fantasy VII’s time to shine. Honestly, they went all out. I took so many photos, I had to select just a few, and even still, to fit the 10 pic limits, I had to combine several sets of 4 pics into one collage-like pic. I still don't think my pictures or short videos will do this event justice. 1997’s RPG’s masterpiece for the PSX was faithfully remastered for modern consoles just back in 2020, and this event brings the iconic Tifa’s Seventh Heaven bar into Boba Bear. There are cutouts of almost all of the main characters (and a villain too, haha), except for Vincent, the 2nd floor has a small section with some free games, a la Gold Saucer, the menu is very interesting, and they event turned Sephiroth’s iconic Masamune sword into an US$8.oo churro! (a bit steep, but it was worth it, it was delicious). They also sell plushies (buy the Chocobo one, they don’t have a markup, it’s the same price as if you were to buy them in Square-Enix dot com), Polygon Figures boxes (I got Barret in a Vol. 1 one), fridge magnets, pins, one kitchen apron shaped like a Soldier armor, knitted dolls, etc. etc. I went on Monday, Dec. 29th at 11:30am, after previously having made a reservation (the US$10.oo from the reservation are counted towards the total of your bill when you go pay at the end). There was just one woman being a cashier/server, etc. when I went, and her service was above and beyond, she was handling everything and she had a great disposition and friendly attitude 10/10 for that. It must not be easy to work a shift all by herself but she pulled it off. If you’re into Final Fantasy, and consider VII to be in your top 3 entries (what is any Final Fantasy game released after XII, anyways? lol), this is definitely a must-see event. As for food options, there were instant ramen varieties with the toppings, at a bit of a markup, but also, not bad at all. All in all, a great event well worth the drive. 10/10.
