The place is dope. They play pretty good music. 2 stars because they charge $30 per person to smoke ONE hookah? We came one night for my birthday and paid $120 for 4 people to smoke ONE hookah (as if it was coming with a bottle?) . Then we came back on another night with 2 people and was charged only $35 for the hookah. This is ridiculous and would make someone not want to support because of the money gouging. EDIT: The owner replied saying that I must have ordered other items??? No! You should do an investigation into your staff. The servers are charging $30 per person to smoke a hookah! Many can vouch for this. But i’m happy you replied. I’ll be using this as proof that what they’re doing isn’t authorized if they try it again. I absolutely love this place the unexplained charges were my only concern.

I’ve been hesitant to post a review, but I feel compelled to share my experience. I must say that the Black community in San Diego is quite small, so having a welcoming place like this to gather is greatly appreciated. I’ve lived in San Diego for nearly 15 years, and Myst has always been one of my favorites and still is! However, one Thursday night, my experience took an unexpected turn. I ordered a green tea drink, not a shot, which was served beautifully with attractive garnishes like a lemon slice, mint sprig, and a splash of honey on top. After sipping it for about 20 minutes, I noticed a small insect floating in my drink. I politely asked the waitress if she could replace it, and she responded affirmatively with a yes! When she returned, she said that the bar manager had told her they couldn’t replace the drink because it had been sitting for over an hour and the bar manger explained that the open doors allow bugs to fly in and out, which might have been how the insect got in. I then requested to speak to the manager directly. After about five minutes of negotiation, he said my only option was to have him remove the bug from the drink, which he did, and then returned the same drink to me!!! While I understand that business considerations—such as revenue and licensing regulations—can influence service policies, I believe that handling situations like this with more care and professionalism would have been appropriate. When people step outside of their homes, they expect top-notch Service. Even if I was at home, I would’ve just poured myself another drink… I’m not claiming this is a bad establishment, but I feel that this incident could have been managed much more thoughtfully and respectfully. I haven't been back since!

If you’re looking for a fun, high-energy spot in downtown San Diego, Myst Hookah Lounge on Fifth Avenue in the Gaslamp is the place to be. Located right in the heart of it all and walking distance from Petco Park, it’s the perfect vibe for a night out—whether it’s a couples night, girls night, or boys night. The atmosphere is unmatched, with some of the best live DJs in town keeping the energy up all night. They also stream UFC fights and all major sports, so there’s always something going on. The drinks are amazing, and the food definitely stands out—it’s not your average hookah lounge menu. The lamb chops are incredible, and the wings are a must-try. Overall, Myst Hookah Lounge delivers on every level—music, food, drinks, and vibe. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the Gaslamp.

Great spot, this is the only place to be in San Diego , especially if your black. San Diego doesn't have many black people. Chill vibe, no drama ENJOY

I stumbled upon Myst Lounge while walking through the Gaslamp, and it checked all my boxes for a good lounge. The first thing that pulled me in was the music which was on point. They had hookah, plenty of seating, and a chill vibe that made me want to stay a while. I grabbed a seat at the bar, enjoyed my hookah and drinks, and watched music videos playing on the screens. I was solo too. The bartenders were cool, and the overall energy of the place felt inviting. On top of that, one of the bartenders is fine! If you’re in San Diego and looking for a relaxed but fun spot, Myst Lounge is worth checking out.
