When people from out of state visit, they want to visit Amoeba. I oblige, but if at all possible I encourage them to come with me to Salzer's instead. Amoeba is a spectacle. But Salzer's is the real deal. This is where you want to shop. It is every bit is as good in terms of selection, whimsy, amusement - but the prices are realistic. It's the best of both worlds. It has the charm of a local record shop that punches in the weight class of the best in the business. Not to mention it has a full smoke shop upstairs, a jewelry shop, clothing, novelties, CDs, tapes, DVDs, posters, toys, gifts... There is something for everything here. It's a perfect store.

Bought a "brand new" vinyl and it sounds so distorted and is spinning so warped that I can't even play it. Sounds like an eerie movie. And this is a brand new sound burger, so I know it's not a work out needle or broken device. I played other vinyl without issue. Smh.

Used to go to this place back in the late 60s and early 70s to buy eight track tapes and black light posters. I went in the service and ended up moving away from Ventura County. I was back in Ventura County for a funeral and looked it up on my maps app., low and behold it was still in business. Mind you it has been 66 years since I last visited Salzer's. It has adapted to today's media trends. They now have modern music media, aka CD's, also the still popular vinyl records and a large selection of DVDS. Oh yes, it was a "head shop" back then and is still that way today. So if you are looking for a unique shopping place for music media, video media, clothing, drinks, candy, souvenirs, jewery, bongs and such this place is worth the trip.

I've been shopping at Salzer's my entire life and it never disappoints. If you're looking for something unique, a gift, body jewelry, physical media, stickers, adult toys, smoking paraphernalia, posters, anything else that reminds you of the '90s?--- go to Salzers.

We spent 4th of July weekend in Ventura. Every time we're out this way, we have to stop at one of the BEST record stores in Southern California. Found some lps, stickers and snacks for our drive home. The staff were great as usual. 👍
