Walking into this cigar bar felt like stepping into a hidden pocket of indulgence—dim lighting, rich leather seating, and that unmistakable aroma of premium cigars setting the tone immediately. The atmosphere struck the perfect balance between refined and relaxed, making it just as ideal for a solo unwind as it is for a night out. What really stood out was the attention to detail behind the bar. The cocktails were crafted with intention—smooth, balanced, and clearly made by someone who understands both spirits and presentation. Pairing that with a cigar elevated the entire experience. And then there were the chips—unexpected, and my favorite Zapps Voodoo. Service tied it all together—attentive without hovering, knowledgeable without being pretentious. You could tell they genuinely cared about the experience. If you’re looking for a spot that combines luxury cigars, expertly made cocktails, and surprisingly standout bites, this place delivers. It’s not just a cigar bar—it’s an experience in Connecticut!

The Owl Shop in New Haven is a really cool spot with a great atmosphere. I first stopped by on Friday night around 9pm, but it was absolutely packed with no room to sit or even stand comfortably, so we decided to leave and come back another time. We returned Saturday around 1pm and it was much less busy, which made the experience a lot better. I ordered a coffee and asked the bartender for a recommendation on a small cigar that would pair well with it. He gave a great suggestion and it was exactly what I was looking for. The staff clearly know their cigars and were very helpful. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that there really isn’t a cigar menu. To see what’s available you have to walk around and look at the shelves along the walls, which can be a little difficult if you’re not a cigar expert(or on a busy day/night when every one is shoulder to shoulder). They do have an online list, but it only shows the brands without pricing. If there was a clear menu with brands and pricing, this would easily be a 5-star experience. Parking can also be a bit difficult, but that’s pretty normal for anywhere in the city. Overall, it’s a great place to visit when it’s not too crowded and I’ll definitely be back.
To be in the one of the oldest if not the oldest cigar bars in New Haven was outstanding. It was my first time ever going after being recommended by Ian at The Edge Fitness. Chad and Bre were absolutely inviting. I was there more for the selection of Bourbon but I was introduced to a damn good cigar. He noticed my country ass accent right away and it was good pours after that. I even purchased their Pinhook barrel select. It is amazing. I can't wait to go back and enjoy the night. Its a must go to!
Enjoyed this place while visiting from out of town and wanted a cigar. Great selection, nice staff, good bites and food, good drink selection. Wasn’t too busy but had a good rotation of traffic but was a nice place to do some work and relax while doing it. Recommended. Place has great vibes. I’ll be back.
I don’t even smoke and this place is so cool. The atmosphere is incredible. The staff is welcoming. The history of this place is worth the visit.
