I hate leaving bad reviews, especially for small businesses because I’d much rather support local than big chain stores. I’m actually a regular customer here. I come in at least twice a month, sometimes more. Usually there are two younger ladies working and they are always sweet, helpful, and respectful. I’ve never had a single issue with them. The problem is the older woman who works there. The first time I dealt with her was about two weeks ago. Her attitude was awful. She acted like helping customers was the biggest inconvenience. I brushed it off because everyone has bad days, so I didn’t think much of it. Fast forward to today… she’s there again. I asked for the same product I always buy. I explained exactly what I wanted, and she even repeated it back to me, so I knew we were on the same page. She handed me the product, I paid, and walked outside. Literally seconds later, I looked at it and realized she gave me the wrong one. I immediately walked back in, and before I could even explain, she already had an attitude. I told her she gave me the wrong product, and her response was basically, “Well, that’s too bad. I gave you what you asked for. I can’t exchange it because you already walked out of the store. You should’ve checked it before you left.” Mind you… I had only been outside for maybe 10 seconds. I explained again that it wasn’t the product I asked for. Instead of listening, she kept arguing with me, saying I asked for it wrong and that it was somehow my fault. She kept going back and forth instead of simply acknowledging the mistake. Eventually she exchanged it anyway… but with the nastiest attitude imaginable… and then charged me an extra $3. At that point I just said, “Thanks,” and left because it wasn’t even worth arguing anymore. The funny part is she must’ve realized how rude she’d been because as I was leaving, she suddenly tried to be nice. This whole experience honestly rubbed me the wrong way. When you own or work for a small business, customer service matters. Regular customer or first-time customer it shouldn’t matter. People are choosing to spend their money with you. No one expects perfection, and I completely understand that people have bad days. But there’s no excuse for speaking to customers with disrespect or making them feel like they’re bothering you. I’m not saying I’ll never come back because I genuinely like supporting this shop, but if I walk in and she’s working, I’ll gladly take my business somewhere else. I refuse to spend my money somewhere I’m treated like my business doesn’t matter. It’s honestly disappointing because the other employees are wonderful, but one person’s attitude can completely change how people view a business.
