I come to Springfield every few years to visit family and have always looked forward to going to Happy Daze. A few years ago they got rid of their fitting room which makes things difficult. I was towards the end of my visit that time so I didn’t buy anything. This year I went early. A friend told me that they had refurbished and did have a fitting room, but it turns out they still don’t. Normally, I won’t buy anything if I can’t try it on, but since I had time I decided to go ahead by a few things. They’re having a buy two get one free sale on clothing which I’m pretty sure is a permanent sale. I bought a few things that were marked one size fits all. I took them home and one was massively huge and the other one was likely a little girls’ size. Unfortunately, they will only allow for store credit on returns, which seems counter to the fact that they have no fitting room. When I brought them back, I was able to scrounge around and find a few things for my exchange. I really couldn’t find three pieces of clothing that I wanted so I tried to buy a toy, which would have come out to the exact same price. The “friendly” guy who sits at the door and greets everyone pretty much yelled at me and said it applied to clothing only. Immediately turned from friendly to complete jerk. He likes to pretend that he doesn’t actually work there and blames his employees for any mistakes or miscommunication. They don’t seem to know what the policies are because I think he changes them on the fly. They appeared pretty miserable each time I went there. He then turned his yelling towards them while I looked for another piece of clothing. I could still hear him bitching them out as I left. Needless to say, I will be crossing my regular outing at Happy Daze off of my list. All they really have to do if they don’t want a fitting room because they’re afraid of theft is at least allow money back returns. Just know if you go, you are stuck with whatever you get. And the experience of some bad attitudes.
