I've been wanting to dine at the London Chop House downtown Detroit for a while and finally fit it into my travel plans. This restaurant has an upscale, old-school steakhouse vibe, featuring a great wine list, live jazz music, and exceptional service. The waitstaff are professionals and have mastered the skill of being present when needed without intruding or interrupting table conversation. The food was as advertised; we ordered salads, soups, the fillets with sides of mushrooms, asparagus, and mac n' cheese. The steaks were prepared perfectly and the mac n' cheese went quickly. I highly recommend the London Chop House and the City of Detroit! Looking forward to my next visit.

Finally had the privilege of trying out the London Chop House in downtown Detroit, a steakhouse institution right here in Michigan. Opened in 1938, this place hosted all the big wigs peak Detroit had to entertain before closing in 1991. It was then reopened in 2012 and thank GOD for that because this place is absolutely spectacular! It checks off all the marks of a great American steakhouse. Dark woods and brass, low lighting, relaxing golden-era jazz and crooner music, gorgeous cocktails, appetizers, steaks, and my favorite, service. What stood out in this particular steakhouse were a few things: its pork belly in substitute of a traditional bacon, their steaks were given a peppered crust instead of just salt, and creamed spinach wasn't on the menu (luckily, their staff was kind enough to supply us one a plate of some!). Their Mac and cheese was not to be missed, but the absolute standout of the night was their carrot cake! Hands down the BEST carrot cake I've ever had, and despite the beautifully prepared dry-aged steaks, live music, and wonderful service, I'd come back for just that cake alone. Thankful Detroit has such a wonderful establishment! 🥩 🍸 🍷
My husband and I had a wonderful dinner. I had the bone in ribeye and he had the fillet bith perfectly seasoned and cooked even my baked potato was amazing! The music was fabulous and set the mood. And we had a good server, Martin, but his assistant was even better his name was Sen - he was super attentive and funny. Great evening!
Great steak place in Detroit. Located in a basement. Atmosphere reminds of old fashioned blues and jazz bar.. has pics of various famous people that were there.. Great live music. Extensive wine selection.. a bit pricey.
We celebrated my mother's 74th birthday Saturday evening as we were visiting the city from Houston. At the door, we met Dorian who welcomed us warmly. The hostess escorted us to our table and introduced us to Erika, our waitress. As it turned out, we had the best in the building!!! Erika handled our party with kindness, professionalism and knowledge. She was able to offer suggestions, explain and educate all 8 of us on the menu, including wine. We began with a dirty martini and Erika suggested that we try anchovy stuffed olives in addition to the blue cheese and it was a hit! Thank you, Erika! I will be ordering martinis this way forever! With a party of 8, to say not one of us was disappointed with food or service is simply amazing. From the poached lobster and caviar service to the dry aged ribeye. Not a single issue or complaint. Our entire party was satisfied. To end our meal, the band played a beautiful jazzy version of happy birthday and we loved every moment. My mother was celebrated in style thanks to The London Chop House. Thank you! Erika, you're amazing! Thank you!
