Clean, bright, I was greeted at the door, great cigar selection. Well done.

Great selection but definitely not the most knowledgeable group when it comes to cigars. You can’t even go into the humidor without someone stepping on your heals. If you’re gonna shadow the least you can do is answer a basic cigar question. Won’t go back! el guapos is leaps and bounds the superior cigar shop/lounge in the area.

I stopped at Cigar World while driving into Joplin after doing a quick search for cigar shops and lounges in the area. Based on the name, I expected a cigar shop primarily, but when I arrived, I realized it was more of an all-purpose tobacco, vape, cigarette, head shop, novelty, and cigar store. That initially lowered my expectations a little, but I was pleasantly surprised when I went inside. They have a very nice-sized walk-in humidor and a broad selection of cigars. From what I was told, they have only been building the cigar side of the business for about a year, so I can certainly understand that their inventory is still developing. The employees were also very polite and friendly. Unfortunately, that is about where the positives ended for me. I purchased a Davidoff “The Late Hour" (Churchill) for $35. Davidoff is obviously a premium cigar, so I expected to pay premium pricing, although this particular cigar normally runs closer to the $30 range at shops I frequent in Oklahoma. Still, I was traveling, wanted to support a local business, and was willing to pay the difference. 35 was close enough. The bigger disappointment came from a large display in the center of the humidor marked “Buy One Get One Free.” I selected two identical Crowned Heads Mil Dias Edmundo cigars from that display. There were no individual prices marked on them. These are cigars I am familiar with and normally see selling for around $8-9 each. When I checked out, my total was $55 plus tax. The Davidoff was $35, and I discovered I had been charged $20 for one Crowned Heads Mil Dias Edmundo while the second was supposedly “free.” That left a very bad taste in my mouth, figuratively speaking, before I ever lit a cigar. Charging $20 for a cigar that ordinarily sells for roughly $8, then presenting the second as free, certainly didn't feel like much of a bargain to me. If you simply need a cigar while passing through town, they have a large humidor and plenty to choose from. Just watch the prices, especially anything advertised as a promotion. Personally, I won’t be returning. I strongly believe in supporting local cigar shops and independent tobacconists whenever possible, which is exactly why I stopped and made a purchase in the first place. Unfortunately, based on my experience, other cigar shops in the Joplin area offer competitive pricing, good selections, and knowledgeable tobacconists who can actually discuss the cigars they sell. Friendly people and a nice humidor, but the pricing and lack of premium-cigar knowledge made this a one-time visit for me.
