Second Edit: I’m happy to say that the shop is now under new management. The new lady is excellent: she knows the product well since she is a cigar enthusiast herself unlike the previous guys who didn’t even smoke cigars. And she knows the industry well having been employed by tobacco companies in various countries. She made excellent recommendations and had some good opinions on cigar brands. I also noticed that the selection has become even better under her management. And she listens to customers: I had asked if she carried Charter Oak. She said no, but indicated that I wasn’t the first to inquire after that brand. She told me that she would order it and to come by in a couple weeks. I am impressed by her knowledge and professionalism and so I am increasing my rating to 5 stars. Do not hesitate to drop by, find a good cigar, and have a chat with a fellow aficionado! ——————————— Edit: on my second visit, there was a different employee who seemed much more informed about their products: I was looking for an Oliva Connecticut and there were none in the display. I asked him if he had any. So he rummaged amongst the unopened boxes below and found some for me. I was glad about that. ———————————— I’m glad that there is a dedicated cigar shop in Fair Lawn. There is a very good variety of cigars at an Aroma. Each wall has humidified displays containing your favorite brand. Although the service is kind and eager to help, I’m afraid that they’re not too knowledgeable. I could cite a couple of strange reasons in the one time I’ve visited, but here’s the most surprising example. I overheard the guy instructing a customer on how to smoke a perfecto. He got it all backwards: he said to cut the cap and light it there, while putting the foot of the cigar into the mouth. Although it might not have made too much difference, I interjected and set him straight. One would think that a cigar shop employee would know how to light a cigar properly! Despite this, go there with an idea of what you want - you will likely find it But, don't ask any technical or esoteric questions. You won't find much help.
