A visit here is a must. My family and I went here for the first time. Based on the online advertising, it was a Gemini brunch special and we had two to celebrate. Upon entrance, we were greeted by an amazing hostess, Irene, and the owners. It felt like being greeted by family as hugs and handshakes were exchanged. We were instructed to choose our seating options and were prompted brought menus by our sweet waitress. They had a DJ playing great music that added to the vibe. To start, we had the Fried Deviled Eggs, the watermelon sangria and the Hennessy Peach Bellini. For our entrees, we had the Suya Lamb chops and Eggs as well as the Jerk Salmon. Everything was AMAZING! I was a little disappointed that they were out of oxtails. 😕 I did get to try the CRÈME BRÛLÉE CHEESECAKE FRENCH TOAST. So delicious! The mimosa tower was good as well and a great deal. The best part was the birthday cake passed out by Chef Winnie in honor of the Geminis and the free round of shots!! I look forward to going back.

This restaurant's current high rating is due to the previous Thai/Asian restaurant previously this location, so be aware of that when reading the other reviews. We chose Afro Eatery simply because we hadn't tried it before and saw one of our favorite foods, jollof rice, on the menu. My husband and I placed a pickup order via DoorDash for the Ogbono Soup with chicken and the Jollof Rice with chicken. The order was placed and confirmed at 4:55pm and was expected to be ready by 5:25. My husband arrived at 5:25 and was told the food would be ready in 10 minutes. The food was not handed to him until 5:50. He sat waiting at a booth the entire time. No one else walked into the restaurant the entire time he was there. When he got home, we discovered the soup came with 3 chunks of tough beef rather than chicken. The soup was very oily and predominantly salty rather than complex in flavor. The chicken in the jollof rice was actually tasty with a smokiness to it. The jollof rice was fine, though not amazing. At $25 per entree, I expected better flavor, better quality, and better portions. I'm bummed because we love jollof rice and we're looking forward to having a place so close to home with it on the menu. We will continue to visit Astor's Table in Katy when we are craving jollof rice since they consistently provide delicious food and good service.

Had an amazing time at Afro Eatery Hookah Lounge & Bar! The food was excellent, the drinks were on point, and the overall vibe was fantastic. A huge shoutout to Irene, she’s both the manager and bartender, and she is absolute perfection at what she does. Friendly, attentive, and keeps the place running smoothly. We’ll definitely be coming back!
