Normally I am pleased with Dollar General in Port Barre; however, today is quite different. Please pay attention to your receipts compared to what you’re actually buying!!!! Tonight, I thought I was getting their discounts advertised on Christmas pillows: buy one get one free. I was skeptical so I told the guy checking me out to run two first so we could make sure this was right. $12 and $8 pillows he looks at his screen, cause I had a lot of other stuff to pay for, and tells me yes $8 off. Next two pillows $12 and $12, he then says yes $20 off. So we said good. Rung everything else up and paid, get my receipt. No where on the receipt does this show up. The $8 shows $7 and the $12 not at all. I was livid. Dollar General store computer system is stealing people’s money. Oh and with some other discounts on my total receipt, at bottom it shows $11.48 of discounts. My calculated discounts should have amounted to $24.48. That is a huge $13 difference. Also, with their two employees who couldn’t even make heads or tails of it either. Then says well I’ll have to refund it all and rerun….i could not believe I did not have time to rerun $148.00 of stuff all bagged up. Watch your charges!!!! A whopping $13.00 overcharge.!:(

It's unfortunate they don't have more checkers

I have had only one bad incident there. I go there a few times wkly. so I consider that to be excellent service. I am disabled and most of the employees go out of their way to help me. One in particular, whose name I can't recall is like an Angel. Her name begins with a D and she's very tall and slender. If I forgot an item she will run back to get it for me. Because of my disability, this is the only store I shop at. It's a pleasure to go there! Oh, don't like that when the store runs out of a product it takes forever to come in. Keep up the good work!

Not enough employees to keep waiting time quick to check out! Definitely will avoid holiday season! Worth driving extra miles to get what is new and get home! And I live 1 block away!
