Great east african eats with free wifi and amazing ambiance. Just discovered this place in houston and I'll definitely go back. I had Chai and chapati and mandazi and enjoyed it. Owner is very sweet and welcoming.

I ordered a cold latter and paid $5 plus tax. The lady took my money and told me in 2 minutes. She then came to me and told me that their machine is out of order and they have no ice. I asked her if I am supposed to reimbursed, she told me if she would get me anything else. I went for hot chocolate though I paid for cold latte. The atmosphere is okay, this is not a place to study or even have a decent conversation. It is probably owned by an African family, and the business is run by their standards. They don't even print the receipt for some reason. The service is okay, and I won't come back here. Outside the coffee shop it is very sketchy as people hang out or loiter. Wouldn't recommend.
Spotlight: KGL Café – A Cozy Late-Night Gem for Coffee, Culture, and Connection Tucked away with an inviting glow, KGL Café is the kind of late-night spot that effortlessly blends warmth, flavor, and relaxation. After dinner, we stopped in for a quiet wind-down and were pleasantly surprised by how charming and cozy the atmosphere was. We ordered a decaf caramel macchiato and a decaf cappuccino, both well-crafted and comforting without being overly sweet. To complement the drinks, we tried the Rwandan beignets—light, airy, and subtly sweet, offering a delightful twist on a classic café treat. Our friends opted for a teapot of ginger tea, served elegantly, and a round of hookah, adding to the laid-back, social vibe that makes KGL feel like a cross between a coffee lounge and a cultural hideaway. What really stood out was the little shelf of board games tucked in the corner. We grabbed Jenga, which led to a lot of laughs and friendly competition—an unexpected but welcome touch that added to the café’s charm. KGL Café is the kind of place where you can settle in for a casual conversation, a late-night coffee, or just a moment of stillness in the buzz of the city. Whether you’re looking to relax with friends or simply unwind after dinner, it’s definitely worth a visit.
Beyond my expectations. I liked their “samosas”. Good vibes. Look for Diana , she is a very amazing person . Will definitely go back.
One of the most wonderful spots i’ve visited,, i came on Valentines Night for a cup of coffee and it was an amazing choice. Humble prices for amazing options and quick, personal service. I absolutely recommend this spot for anyone.
