We were in a pinch and wanted cigars for our wedding that was taking place in a matter of days. I walked in and JR Cigars gave us great guidance on which cigars made the most sense for our guests. They even provided a free box, cutters, and matches. Highly recommend this business as they operate with integrity instead of trying to nickel and dime like so many places seem to do nowadays.

I visit a lot of cigar shops, and JR Cigars – Clayton continues to stand out as a must-stop spot for anyone who appreciates quality, variety, and a well-run cigar store. I was originally recommended this place by a friend (and even a jeweler in Ladue), and every visit has reinforced that recommendation. In the past, I’ve stopped in a few times right before closing, usually for quick, last-minute pickups. Even then, the owners and staff were always welcoming never rushed or dismissive just letting me know they were closing soon while still giving me time to grab what I needed. That kind of customer service goes a long way and definitely stuck with me. This time, I was able to slow down and really enjoy the store. Everything is extremely well organized, with sections clearly laid out by brand, rare cigars, bundles, samplers, and boxed options. The variety is impressive, including brands you don’t always see everywhere, along with strong offerings from Foundation, Rocky Patel (including aged and limited releases), and plenty of other high-end and harder-to-find cigars. One thing that really sets this place apart is the grab-and-go selection sample packs, bundles, and singles, including older or discontinued smokes at very reasonable prices. That’s perfect for testing and rating cigars before committing to a box, which is usually my approach. Accessories are also well stocked, especially lighters and cutters. The humidor and overall store environment are clearly well maintained. Humidity is dialed in, everything looks clean and properly stored, and nothing felt neglected. The shop has an older-style cigar store vibe that I genuinely enjoy. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to. I grabbed a basket, asked questions about cigars I’m interested in down the road, and never felt rushed even when I came in close to closing time on previous visits. I was especially happy to pick up exactly what I was looking for and will definitely be back for a box or two. The only minor downside is parking, which can be a bit confusing if you’re unfamiliar with the area, but that has nothing to do with the shop itself. Overall, JR Cigars – Clayton is a well-maintained store with great people, excellent variety, and fair pricing. I was honestly overwhelmed in the best way possible and will continue recommending this place as a go-to cigar spot.

I like them. I buy from them frequently, especially their “JR Alternative.” But you have to be a little cautious. Sometimes they offer a “sale price” but, as a frequent (online) customer, I know that they have raised the price before supposedly putting it on “sale.” Thus my three star rating. They are a bit bogus.
