Our family had an extremely disappointing and quite frankly, a little scary experience at Funky Beach Surf & Vape Shop here in good ol Hilton Head Island! My cousin went there to have braids put in her hair, and within AN HOUR, the bands that were used were already breaking. We went back to the shop simply to ask for more bands to fix the braids which is something we felt was a very reasonable request considering we had just paid for the service. Instead of trying to resolve the issue, the woman, Aileen, refused to help us and began accusing us of putting something in my cousin’s hair. Things could have been handled so easily if she had simply provided a few replacement bands and taken care of a customer's legitimate concern. Unfortunately, that is NOT what happened. She proceeded to scream and yell at our family, make accusations, and threaten to call the police, all because we were asking for replacement bands for a service we had just paid for. We were not looking for an argument. We were not asking for a refund. We simply wanted the problem fixed. The way our family was treated was completely unnecessary, extremely unprofessional, and frankly shocking. A business should stand behind the services it provides and know how to handle an unhappy customer without becoming confrontational and threatening to call the police. We will NEVER return to this establishment, and based on our experience, I would strongly recommend others think twice before spending their money here. Absolutely unacceptable customer service. And the worst part about it all, it was the owner that acted this unprofessional. She blames everyone else for her cheap and awful service. Reading your other reviews and YOUR responses back are COMICAL. Accountability is key. If you can’t do that, then you have NO business owning a business. I can’t wait to see this place close down. Aileen, you are TERRIBLE!

The owner was really nice and did an exceptional hair braid on my 9 year old. My daughter loves her braid and has so enjoyed showing it off to her friends, family and teachers. Thanks so much for making my daughter so happy and working us in!

What a cool boutique. Yes again on coligny beach we’ve found one that actually has hand woven products straight from Mexico! Alina shared with us that she also does the fairy hair extensions. She charges $2 per strand of installation. She also has feather extensions. They sell souvenirs, sandals, clothing, and a few other fun things. They drew us in with a couple of clothing racks outside with bathing suits. Be sure to stop by if you’re visiting.

My daughter, 10, accidentally knocked off a dress off the rack outside. It was all tangled on the rack and it was an accident. The lady came outside to yell at my daughter and was very rude. I had wanted to stop in from a previous visit but it was closed at noon. I won’t even step foot in based on her rudeness.
