The selection was good. I appreciated the upfront pricing, and to understand the various types better. It was so nice to encounter a real humidor. Some of these places advertise they have cigars but it's like a stand up single shelf that is locked. With terrible selection. So it was very nice to see that here they had a selection and their pricing was very fair.

The first time I traveled here, they were closed. I didn't read the hours properly: they're not a 7 day operation. But, I endeavored to get back and was rewarded for it. Bigger is not always better and more expensive. doesn't always signal quality. El Patron cigar is a small shop with small to mid-size humidor. The selection is 65-35% specialty sticks in mild, habano, or maduros. They have a lot of different vitrolios, lengths, and shapes as the bulk of their offerings, the rest is regular known cigar brand offerings, i.e., Oliva, RyJ, My Father, Padron, etc. But, I've smoked those and find myself leaning more toward specialty blended cigars. El Patrón delivered. I purchased a habano bomb robusto costing $6. So, now we get to the good part of El Patrón, the vibe. Cigars are cigars. But smoking them in a relaxing environment goes a long way. El Patron was like a love letter to American muscle cars, southern rock, sports, and hunting. A guy space from a bygone era but quietly preserved. This was all the owners doing. He was a greatly attentive kind gentleman who gave me the tour, let me browse and gladly showed off his '51 Plymouth that was a beast (which is proudly displayed in photos on the rear wall). Recently, I read an online post that asked about how to deal with pushy cigar lounge staff. Well, being able to deal with the owner helps. It even more if he's just a good dude. So again, while not modern, El Patrón was unforgivingly retro, a masculine throwback to what I seek in lounges, a comfortable relaxing vibe, cool patrons, a welcoming atmosphere and genuine to cigar culture. So, all that said, sometimes you just get it right, just being the thing that everybody strives for, i.e., the genuine article. El Patron is just that. Thus, I highly recommend dropping into this outstanding cigar lounge if you're ever in SE Harris County.

Great little hidden gem! I found El Patron with a google search while on a business trip to Houston. The owner (Randy) greeted me promptly and was very helpful in pointing me in the direction of a great selection of quality-crafted hand-rolled cigars! I smoked a Habano while there and truly enjoyed both the cigar and the conversation with Randy! I also picked up five other cigars to take back with me to Louisiana and have already smoked two of them! Both were very good with high quality construction. If you want a good little place to chill with good company and a high quality cigar this is the place for you! You may not find all the brand-name stuff but the hand-rolled selection at El Patron blows many of the name-brand stuff out of the water anyway! Try this place out if you are in the area, you won't be disappointed. I will be sure to pass back by next time I'm in the Houston area.

First time in a Houston cigar shop and lounge and have to say I enjoyed it. Randy the owner was very helpful with cigar selection and the atmosphere was very relaxed and the other smokers greeted you when you walked in or as they walked in. Good conversation and the Nicaraguan blend I smoked was very good. Also picked up a few El Mago cigars I have never tried before.

El Patrón is one of the most relaxing, comfortable, quiet cigar lounges on this side of town. Their house cigars are excellent and I will definitely be visiting again!
