As expected on a girls night out, we were looking forward to having a fun time. Unfortunately, my first experience at Tropic was disappointing because of the lack of communication and customer service. When my friends and I arrived for the silent party event, we specifically asked the lead doorman if the front section was reserved before we sat down. He told us that any reserved seating would have a sign on it. I even asked him again just to be sure, and he confirmed that it was okay for us to sit there. After we were seated, a very sweet young lady brought us menus and told us our server would be with us shortly. We waited about 20 minutes and no one ever came to our table. Then another employee walked over and told us we couldn’t sit there. I explained that the doorman had already told us it was okay. He went over and spoke with the doorman, who again told him we could stay because the section wasn’t reserved. A few minutes later, I watched a female server tell the hostess that our section was actually reserved and that we shouldn’t have been seated there. She then walked over to the doorman and told him the section was reserved. I heard him ask her, “So you’re telling me I have to make them get up?” She replied, “Yeah.” The conversation was happening right next to us, so I heard everything. I finally spoke up and said, “So you’re really making us move after I asked multiple times if it was okay to sit here?” They basically told us yes and that we could only stay until the reserved party arrived. Honestly, my biggest issue wasn’t even having to move. My biggest issue was that there was absolutely no service recovery. Mistakes happen, and I completely understand that. But when a mistake is made, how it’s handled is what people remember. No one apologized for the confusion, acknowledged that we had been given the wrong information, or made any effort to make the situation right. To make things even more frustrating, I had already purchased additional tickets for other guests through Eventbrite. When I asked if we decided to leave because of everything that had happened, could I at least get a refund, the doorman simply told me I would have to go through Eventbrite. Again, there was no attempt to help or offer any kind of solution. The sad part is that if this situation had never happened, I honestly think I would have had a great night. The atmosphere seemed fun, and I was excited to be there. Instead, it ended up being one of those nights where it felt like management and some of the staff just didn’t care and I was simply another number. I do want to give credit where it’s due. Thank you to the lead male bartender who finally came over to us after we had been waiting more than 30 minutes and gave us a round of drinks. We truly appreciated that kindness because it was one of the only moments that made us feel like someone actually cared about our experience. I hope this review is taken as an opportunity to grow. Good customer service isn’t about never making mistakes. It’s about how you recover when they happen. Better communication between staff and a little more effort to make guests feel valued would have completely changed this experience. I genuinely hope future guests have a better first experience than we did. ** I do want to clarify that, from what I was told, the male bartender apologized to some of my friends, though I don’t personally remember receiving an apology. There were a lot of emotions in the moment, so I want to represent the situation as accurately as possible. My concern was never that the section was pre-booked. It was the lack of communication, accountability, and customer care. From the moment we sat down, the bartender seemed frustrated, and instead of informing us right away, we were left sitting for about 20 minutes without service before being told we couldn’t be there. This could have easily been resolved within the first few minutes, especially since it wasn’t busy when we arrived.

Nice laid back spot. Good food, and drinks for a decent price. Artichoke dip, pizza, and wet jerk wings.

We went on a Thursday so it was dead ( which we loved!) but just for a drink and a meal it came up to 50$ plus and that was before the tip🌚😭 and even tho it was only us our server wasn’t really attentive at all:/ I would come back for a drink tho!

The Staff was nice and friendly. But the Happy Hour menu was confusing and caused a lot of miscommunication with the staff. The food was not it. Some of the wings were dried out with sauce put on them. The dipping sauces look like the ones at Walmart and had to pay $1per cup. This was my first time visiting this restaurant. I won’t be going back.
